Parkinson's Awareness Week My third poem The Adversary Waltz!
The Adversary Waltz!
I’ve had a fight with my old mate Parkie
Because I’ll have none of his malarkey,
He’s always trying to get one more bit
He can try, but I’ll not stand for it.
He’ll not get the better of me for sure,
He’s had what’s on offer, there is no more.
I’ve decided to keep what I’ve still got,
Parkie get used to it, you’ve had your lot.
You think you can get one over on me,
So go on try it and then we’ll soon see.
There’s medication that will deal with you,
If what they have told me is really true.
One day there will be no necessity
To cause stiffness, pain and infirmity,
So on your bike and get away from here,
Your face will soon be wiped clean of that sneer.
My Parkie friends and I laugh and have fun,
Because we think we’ve got you on the run.
With treatment that might come from a stem cell,
Something so good, it will keep us all well.
My friend you are facing redundancy,
And we’ve no plans to fill your vacancy.
So as I’ve said before, get on your bike,
Do us all a favour and…go take a hike!
