The rarely crowded streets of Lubrein where as empty as always, just the two twins heading to the manor. a few blocks to the right of Central Station they turned left in Roosenburg alley, the small windows and old forgotten pot plants guided the twins way to the end of the thigh alley. Basant's golden bindi shined with the last light rays while they walked up trough the step stairways to a dead end with an stylish wooden door which had a sign on it "Wyvern-Saal-Herrenhaus."
"Wyvern Hall Manor. It looks way better than I thought, I like it! " pure sarcasm, Basant was tired of his brother's attitude so he didn't cared on reply.
Barindra's careless hand knocked the door, a few seconds latter the door opened itself. The manor's interior was a real contrast with the filthy facade from outside, the main hall was decorated with huge mirrors and religious statues, a huge silver clock at the center gave the place a strange appearance. Porcelain dolls, ornaments and dusty books where spread in shelves, walls and even in the floor. All the distractions didn't made the twins wander, they were heading straight to the end of the hall to a wide window with a beautifully ornamented glass door.
The view made them forget that they had been in the rustic alleys of Lubrein a few seconds ago, a wide coniferous forest covered in a dense fog gave the "backyard" a mystic feeling, the twins shoes got wet with the large puddles while they walked toward a fancy red silk Victorian couch;
a classy young gentleman drinking a cup of tea was on it, his stylish tailcoat and his long charcoal black hair gave him an air of sophistication.
"So were is my box?" His voice was clear and beautiful, the wind played with his bangs as he continued drinking his tea.
"em---Here it is..." Basant was feeling nervous while he turned his face to stare at his brother, Barindra hurried up and gave the man a small velvet bag with something inside.
The man carefully toke the relic out and placed it over the fancy tea table that was in front of him.
"No living being has felt as exited or scared as I feel now, the cursed pyxis now lays in front of me - and I'm a lid away from unlocking the seventh lock...Pandora's Lock"
Basant didn't knew if interrupt his monologue, "you---you shouldn't" his simple whisper was enough to make the man turn his eyes toward him.
"Shouldn't what?" As he said this the confidence in his deep tyrian purple eyes faded instantly, the pain flowed up trough his arm and an emerald glow covered the vessel revealing hundreds of stylish cryptic symbols that moved around it producing yellowish particles. As fast as he tried to open the vessel the young man toke his hands off from it, letting it fall down in the muddy forest bed.
The seconds felt like hours as the black and silver pyxis fell, the time and the hearts of the three men seemed to stop when the vessel finally hit abruptly the ground. The young man threw away his teacup toward the twins, euphoria and wrath invaded his expression.
"You -- useless bearers! you can't even break a simple protection spell"
"Its isn't a simple spell!" Barindra replied, it was the first time someone that wasn't his brother had called him that way.
"Stop!" Interrupted Basant energetic but shy.
"You stop! You used to be strong, but now you are shame for our family" cried Barindra "The syntax and symbols of this language make it incomprehensible, no living bearer or alchemist can break this spell!" he finished.
An out-of-place sadistic laugh started to grow "I like you...I like the way you are, you are strong, you feel no fear...you are stronger than him.."
Basant was invaded by indignation by the words of the man, but the fear he felt toward him made him unable to reply to such an insult.
"This spell can broke. There is a good friend of mine performing in Paris, he will know how to break it." said the young man "some people look way younger than they are...take it as an advice, go meet him to the Comédie-Française."
"Yes my lord" replied Basant in a gentle way.
"Please don't call me like that...we are just friends."
