English Jar
For a not so known Hero of 1857- Mangal Pandey.

I was bought at 12 PM. 01/01/2004, in exchange for a strange coin
called the Pound.

I am carried about in a paper bag by butter-fingers having
the remains of messy banana.

A plump form takes me to my home. On
arrival, I am greeted by a loud squeak-
"You pig, you did finally sell it. Did you?"

" I think I got something better than that."
'

Now I am being put in a huge crystal bowl, open at the top due to
the
vagaries of carelessness. The worn-out font in Garamond is glistening
as
the 'English Sea', hopeful of the clairvoyant water, trembling,
as
though recognizing the tale of it getting there.

" I hear a mature voice saying, " now, it's been awhile since
we've
used the English sea."

I start adjusting to my new residence watching the grandiloquence of
my
label and while adjusting myself to my newfound surrounding's.
Suddenly I hear the tremors of the voice, which bought to me to
this
strange crystal now glimmering with fresh water. The voice has
become
almost monotonous and chanting- "Must get this right ? English East
India
Company was established in 1875, 76?. Drat this date! Indian
Historians have called revolt of 1857 as the First War of Independence.
On the
midnight of August 15th 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru said, " we have made
a
tryst with destiny".

Suddenly there's a loud scream.

"Take that you bully".

A text called the India's National movement lands on my dwelling-
the
crystal bowl, English Sea.
Plop, Plop, I am on land struggling to survive. I am gathered by
butter-fingers. Off I slip on the floor. Once again, with all the
non-violence of the palm, I am grasped; I hang on close to the growing
lifeline.
Another broken bottle with a geisha, waving a fan appears and I
am
cajoled into it with a few words of apology.

A quirky thought comes to me as I am swimming; I read the Jar and
I
read it in reverse!

I smile at my dinner coming to me, tidbits sinking like Archimedis?.
I
relish my meal winking Eureka.
