Drowning Blue

I’ve been nowhere I’d love to have been before
I’ve met no one who I’d rather be
I know as much as I’m known to no other
More than no one no other than me
Still there’s times when I don’t talk to anyone
Times I don’t even talk to myself
And sometimes I just run out of conscience
Other times when that’s all I’ve got left
So speak not the name in good company
It’s too absurd, too obscene and too sure
But it’s sad and it’s sweet and it’s sanity
And it may be what I’ve been before
It’s too bad now if my words are boring you
They’re too assured, too unclean and too pure
All the prices I pay for adoring you
Can be measured out only in words
O heart, heart, heart, you’re a strong one
You break only as hard as you beat
And pain, O pain you’re a strange one
You take only what you never need
