Eyes On You

I remember the day you first came into my world
And the way you taught me what it meant to live.
I thought life was existence before your guidance unfurled
The layers of everything I had to give.
With your eyes on me, I learned how to grow,
And, with you, each moment was exciting and new.
Your eyes saw so much, but did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
I remember the day we went swimming by night
And the way, naked, we dove under the stars.
In the moonlight, for a moment, the world seemed right,
And Venus was bright, so much brighter than Mars.
With your eyes on me, time itself seemed to slow
As you glistened and laughed; as I eclipsed your view.
Your eyes shone like moons, but did you ever know,
That I had mine on you?
I remember the day you decided to go
And the way I said nothing as you walked away.
You could always find the right words, although
There are some things even words cannot say.
With your eyes on me, I never let show
My unrequited love, or let my feelings come through.
Your eyes turned away, but did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
You changed me forever, but you never knew
I had my eyes on you.
