There is no way I can redeem that time
The sudden pain that shook your vibrant soul
To think that love was there, then so maligned
I’d broken something fragile that seemed whole.
The hills we climbed to keep those thoughts at bay
The silence that spoke more than words would do
The way you looked at me on that last day
The things you said so bitter, yet so true.
I see your face in dreams and wake alone
This scar is burning red, but not from heat
I’m in that place I once had called our own
You’re faraway with friends who know your need.
This grief that haunts my days, goes on and on
While she whose heart I broke, forever gone.
