Sun-Swept Highways
30-31st March 2005
I dreamt of sun-swept highways
Prickled heat in bloom
I swam to sugar free skylines
But mostly I dreamt of you.
I crumble inside a greeting
And look bashfully into your eyes
Then pull you close and whisper
"I'm no better at goodbyes"
We walk across melting meadows
Slipping past whispering trees
We slide from shade to sunlight
As we swing on the whim of the breeze
The sun swirls across your hemlines
And plays daydreams through your hair
As we wander toward a sunset
One horizon: shared
Eyelids close, get painted
By a sun that really tries
Then our lips mix, and tingle
And we share each others sighs
I kiss your ear with a mumble
That humbles your gentle soul
As we lay in unspoken forever's
And watch the sky unfold
We echo through sweating rainbows
And linger inside a rhyme
We tickle each others fingertips
Arching our backs in time
We tread each others footsteps
And broke our scars in two
We twirled in patterned alphabet
As I dreamt of you
We'll stare up at wispy infinites
And across the heavens we'll swing
We'll dangle from candy floss galaxies
And hear the soft physics spin
Lets swindle stars from constellations
And breast-stroke through cool blues
Slide between those scented sheets
And love like there's nothing to lose
We'll hold the fins of the gentlest beast
As we uncurl the secretive seas
He'll glide us through sun-laden shallows
Riding a moonstruck breeze
I pick the lock to your sacred diary
Whisper enigmas between your prose
Climb inside its duvet pages
Till I become the words you chose
