As the trees sway gently in the breeze
Shedding off their summer leaves
I sit and hope for a time when we
Can be together you and me
As the rain falls heavily onto the ground
I no longer hear a sound
I'm too absorbed in my thoughts of you
And wishing you would love me too
As the rainbow dances across the sky
I see my life passing me by
It brings no hope at all to me
As it dances there behind the trees
As the sun shines brightly on my face
It hides the images of my disgrace
The wrongs I've inadvertently done
And the inner battles still to be won
As the clouds float by wet and grey
I feel a need to be shown the right way
To be led straight to your door
And to finally end our bitter war.
