Dinosaurs (One)

Breakfast by Dad

One day Spike was eating breakfast when along came a little lizard like
creature. Spike was surprised to see it and found it a fascinating
little thing; it had a spiny back all the way up to the tip of its nose
and all the way down to the tip of its tail.
"I'll take this and show it to the others", he thought, and scooped it
from the ground. He left his breakfast on the floor, this was a large
leaf full of bits of dead animals (and a fair bit of dirt as well), and
off he ran.

Gobbledegook was also eating his breakfast when Spike ran up to him
shouting: "Look what I found, Look what I found!"
"floobywooby" said Gobbledegook
Spike excitedly showed Gobbledegook what he had found, "It was running
along the floor, haven't seen one of these before"
Without a word his friend scooped up the poor little lizard and
swallowed it in one!
"Hey!" shouted Spike, "That was my funny little creature!" The tail of
the lizard had already disappeared down Gobbledegook's throat and was
gone!
"floobyDOOBYwoody", said Gobbledegook gratefully,
"floobyscoobymooby"

Spike knew it was a waste of time trying to argue with Gobb and anyway,
there was no getting the lizard back now! So he went back to his
breakfast with his head down and feeling rather sad. However when he
arrived his food had disappeared! Spike looked everywhere, he was sure
he had put the leaf just there.
He looked high and low and when he had almost given up looking, he
spotted something out of the corner of his eye. It was another little
lizard creature! And there was another, and another! There were lots of
them all running around as if looking for their lost lizard
friend!

Spike scooped one up and put it in his mouth (for safe keeping, you
understand), and ran off to see Dave.
He ran straight past Gobbledegook, "Scooby flooby"
"floouffled smoouff", spluttered Spike with the lizard's tail sticking
out of his mouth.
"Flooby?" replied Gobblegook with a strange look on his face, He didn't
know Spike could speak HIS language!

As he ran, Spike was finding it harder to breathe with the lizard in
his mouth and without thinking, just as he reached Dave he gave a
little swallow.
"Oops", he thought as the lizard disappeared down his throat.
He told his story to Dave and insisted that Dave come and look for more
strange lizards. So off they went, collecting a puzzled Gobbledegook on
the way (Gobbledegook was always puzzled so no-one knew any different).
But when they arrived at the spot where Spike had half eaten his
breakfast there was nothing to be found!

After looking high and low for what seemed like hours, both
Gobbledegook and Spike began to get pains in their tummies.
"Serves you right for eating strange creatures", said a wise Dave, and
with the two unwise dinosaurs holding their bellies, they all went
home.
