Chemistry, Physics &; Biology

Gone are the days
When chemistry doesn't count
Isn't it easy
If your life companion
Is chosen for you?
Now, you have to look
And look and look
And be looked at
In order to get hitched
And after all that
You kind of regret
Maybe there is another
Better one for you?
All that passion
And the nasty words
Are they worth it?
Is this what they call chemistry?
Didn't the old ones
Tell you after awhile
They actually fell in love
Even when they did not choose
Their life partners?
So then maybe chemistry
Isn't the best gauge
Of who's right for you?
Maybe it's physics after all
Maybe it's those planetary positions
That determine whether at that point
There is a cosmic connection
That binds you to that special one
Whatver it is
One thing is for sure
The nature of love
Still eludes generations
And this is why
Generations before
Have wisely given up
Relying on Chemistry and Physics
And have instead decreed
That Biological imperatives
Are the order of the day
Even if it costs their kids' lives.
