The Piano Player

The painting sat high on the wall
The fussiness of the brush strokes so delicately taken
To create an image of serenity and grace
The piano player sits tall, long arms out stretched
Deliberately playing sounds in an organised pattern
Allowing beauty to bounce off the invisible waves.
The painting carries the sound to my ear
Lost in a moment like a dream it all seems so real
And alive, I imagine the sound being adored by all who listens.
The tones used to create this image bring the piece to life
Art reflecting art, allowing ones imagination to flow
A piece as exquisite as this, I'm surprised it has no signature
The artist's expression is unclear, and not so detailed
This leads me to interpret the concentration and forged burrows
As he translates the music before him
His eyes move fast, each glance mirrored
By the precision sound engulfing the audience
I can't believe this young unique black man has such beauty in his finger tips
A noise behind me stifles me out of this vision
As I take a refreshed look at the piece I see something odd
A piano player wearing black baseball shoes, an oddity that adds intrigue
I admired the life captured in this piece of artwork
Something completely and extraordinarily beautiful and different
It was at that point I was enlightened to the fact that this painting
Was in fact a poorly taken photograph, upon closer inspection
I came to understand that my imagination of that picture was
In fact reality for the audience who witnessed such a talent play.
