Dear Egg,
My littlest buddy - how's it going? It's been eighteen years since we
first met and rest assured my love for you is as big as ever, no matter
what's gone on.
I'm yet to see your first steps, smile and broken heart, yet to hear
you speak, but something tells me that by the time you read this you'll
be doing great. Even if doesn't exactly feel that way.
I don't know if there are still universities or if you want to go, but
presuming you're poised to fly the nest I wish you the very, very best
and remind you that you can always return to me, no matter what. Don't
worry about what anyone thinks, just do whatever makes your heart
happy. If that means you'd rather work than study that's cool, and if
you'd rather just doss about that's cool too as long as you do it on
your own time and money!
I can pretty much guess that the last decade might have been a bit
rough on you, but take comfort from the fact that even if your heart is
broken, somebody else will be willing to lend you theirs. And you'll
always have mine, my first triumph, my littlest buddy.
The world's a god awful bitch sometimes, and I hope you've not seen too
much of her nasty side and that you never will, but please remember
that birds will still sing and the grass will still grow no matter what
disasters befall you. And all those other clich?s! I wish with all my
heart you have no clue what I'm going on about.
Be happy and careful but most of all be free - I'm so proud we made it
this far and I will always be proud of you, no matter what. I love you
already and you don't even exist, the love I have for you as you read
is strong enough to kill a man. Don't ever be afraid of letting me
down, because, quite simply, you can't. Your existence guarantees
that.
Try your hardest to have the most fun, remember your responsibilities
(hopefully you haven't too many as yet.) Go out into the world and kick
it's ass.
Never forget I love you,
Your humble,
Mother
