Return of His Memory
The Return of His Memory
Last June, at a wedding where a week's long festivities had been
planned, a couple who was there in attendance with us suddenly went to
Nice in the middle of the week only to return on the day of the
wedding. Following the ceremony they quickly departed for the United
States. Some months later a philosopher who had also attended the
wedding and had noticed the same odd behavior in the couple said he
dreamed about the man, whose name is Laever, just a few nights before.
In the dream he, the philosopher, stood in a glass elevator with the
newlyweds both of whom had extraordinary instruments in their hands.
These instruments were similar in color and material, but not in shape.
They were made of glass and shining metal and a white substance, the
philosopher said. One floated near the husband. It was wand-like with
the white substance on either end, rippled like two grips on the
opposite sides of a small metal object covered by glass. The other, in
the wife's hands, was oval with a metal object in the middle on a white
platform covered by a glass dome, almost like an ambered insect. The
philosopher said that during the dream he asked the couple what the
instruments were for. They replied with nervous laughter, We are going
to a party to celebrate the return of Laever's memory. Though we
expected an explanation of this dream, the philosopher simply looked at
us and smiled.
