I did what I could to stay the cold, pulling the lapels of my old trench up to protect my bare throat from the biting winds that stung my cheeks and the snow that sunk through the through the thin layers of the coat and into the sheer ' cocktail dress' I wore beneath it. If it'd been up to me this meeting would've been done through my webcam, but the sick creep had insisted that I take the four hour drive from my city flat to his country home.' What's the point in pretending?' he'd said during one of our many onesided conversations ,'in pretending that this isn't going to happen,' his voice had gone husky, sending unpleasant shivers from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet.' I know I want this just as much as you do.'

For a moment I just stood there, my finger brushing against the glowing bell, trying, though with little success, to push back the fainting spells that had black shadows fraying at the edges of my vision. I pressed my back against the door, just narrowly avoiding the golden knocker, its face molded to the likeness of a wolf, which by the way nearly scared me to unbothered consciousness. Nearly.

She said nothing, the charcoal grey eyes framed by lush black lashes remained unblinking , though they were brimming with angry tears.

Albeit a pathetic attempt to make amends she accepted it with what little tolerance remained. The sooner she got the answers she'd come here for the better.

He smiled, boldly flashing his sparkling whites in her general direction, a hidden threat lying beneath it , though she couldn't know that, as he let his obsidian eyes wander with unbridled appreciation.

" There is no need for unnecessary formalities. I am Stephen," half a millisecond later he stood before her, took her hand and slowly, tauntingly, placed an icy hot kiss on the meat of her palm." And you are my little Florence. You know what it means, don't you?" she shook her head once, twice, a fresh wave of fear rolling off of her as his smile grew."It means ,my dearest sweet, that you are so pure, so lovely," he hurried his nose in the crook of her neck as he whispered to her," a virgin, ready for the taking."

It's not exactly easy to feign indifference when a vampire with not-so-chaste intentions has his mouth poised right above your jugular and is slowly, slowly, kissing his way down, hands teasing cruelly, drawing a pur from my lips-

I pulled away from him, though reluctant to be removed his his lust driven embrace, bracing myself against that icy windowpane, watching, as he did, with as much calculation and weariness as I could muster. The pounding in my chest was more than enough warning: if Bubby didn't get here soon I was going to faint again, and this time there was no way in the world he'd ever be find me.
