Power station
In the shadow of the power station
we dined on little chef's quietness
with each other's hangovers and
served by the carpet-genie woman
we changed our orders
we particular-ed our drinks
we did everything but specify
the behaviour of other diners
we were in one tiny way
the aristocrats of little chef manor
over the marmalade and bacon
and the Daily Mail's martinet anger
outside we lay on the grass
i puffed a smelly cigarette
you pouted on your lolly
the power station loomed
bliss. happy birthday Julie.
