As the years pass,
The ice sometimes fractures,
On my lake of forgotten memories.
I afford myself a brief smile,
Remembering your eyes,
And the warmth they held.
I try to hold them in my mind,
But time, like the wind,
Carries them from me,
Across the ice, where I cannot go,
And so I wait, huddled by this frozen lake,
Hoping for another moment of warmth.
