The Ones
Sonnet- 10 syllables per line
In Eden's garden, the green trees grew strong
Bore the sweetest fruits, all life was in song
Fish swam swiftly, in the rivers that flowed
Wildebeest ran, in great speed, never slowed
In the clear, blue sky, flying birds were grand
Over the mountains, across the great land
And then came the ones, clad in other's skin
Entered this world, destroyed it from within
Trees they tore down, great blazing fires they lit
Made the air impure, the grass became grit
They caused famines, plagues, destruction, slaughter
When all was lost, they turned on each other
When the world was bare, all seas and lakes dry
The last of the ones, wondered why?
Oh why?
