True Crime
They walked into the woods, flashlights searching over the area and police dogs moving with haste and barking loudly. Finally, with the police dogs barking louder, they stopped in their tracks. "We found the body" reports Deputy Ryan to his walkie talkie. Deputy Frank looks tiredly at the body. it had been the 7th body the police officers had found past two weeks. The medical and examiner and medical team came to the crime scene so more commotion rose. "Why can’t we catch the culprit?” asked Deputy Ryan angrily. The culprit definitely had gloves on as they couldn’t find any trace of fingerprints. They tried looking for foot tracks but they couldn’t find them either. The only evidence that existed was the cause of death; which was done by a rope. There was always a burn mark around the victims' throats which were signs of strangulation. It was getting too much for the officers.
It was 8am, Ryan woke up. The first thought he had on his mind was the case. There had been reporters requesting to have interviews with both him and Frank but they refused. Ryan gets up and calls Frank “Hey buddy, how do you feel? ” I feel like giving up on this case, we barely have any leads” and that was the truth unfortunately. But no matter how Frank felt, he had to work, it was his job. After the call ended, another call came through from chief of police, Chief O’Donald. “I need you and Frank to meet me right away and proceeded to just drop the call, without giving Ryan the chance to speak. He knew they were in trouble. “It has been two weeks, we have found the seventh body, now what? Is that all I'm going to get? Nothing?” asked Chief O’Donald angrily. Ryan looked down. “And where in the hell is Frank?” Frank was busy with another case, well at least that’s what he said. I mean for all we know; he could be home being lazy, thought Ryan. “Clearly y’all can't do it on your own so I'm going to have to do it with you guys” the Chief of police said angrily. Ryan felt like an absolute failure.
Ryan was given a camera that had a night light. Assuming that Frank was busy, he decided to put the camera there himself without telling Ryan about the plan as he wanted to get recognition on the work on his own. The camera was to be on top of the tee until the next crime. The camera was on at night times, recording what happening during those periods. Then a week later, Ryan went into the camera room with Frank and Chief O’Donald. “What’s all this about "asked Frank confused. “Oh, I installed a camera to hopefully detect the criminal "explained Ryan proudly. Frank’s face dropped immediately. “You didn’t tell him what we are up to” asked the Chief, “I'm sorry, I forgot” lied Ryan. Ryan looked at Frank who looked like he had seen a ghost. “You okay buddy” asked Ryan. Was Frank upset that he wasn’t told the plan thought Ryan. Ryan wanted no time to lose. He put the screen on immediately and there he was, a man on the screen, in black clothing with a black mask on with black clothing. He couldn’t identify the clothes or who was under the mask, dammit, thought Ryan. “Turn off the video” said the Chief, defeated. When Ryan turned off the video, he turned around and looked at Frank. Frank looked relieved, weirdly. Ryan knew something was wrong and he thought of the body of the culprit in the video, looked at Frank again and then he realized.
