One Year On From Flowers

A light long lost now,
the candle flickers but never dies;
still lights the room
and many faces.
A year ago, an accident:
small, compact and quickly over,
the debris removed, mess cleaned up
but spilt blood always leaves a stain.
You still bring tears, some guilt, regret
still etched upon our minds,
eyes glaze over remembering you
and smiling lips hide quivers well.
Where are you now? Looking down
and watching as we live?
Waiting for the day we'll meet again
somewhere else, another time.
