An Academic's Journal
In twenty years, you'll probably be lost
in library basements, or maybe on
the shelves of dusty bookshops, the cost,
though low, inflated way beyond
the value of your pages. Some scholar
or historian will rootle through
your pages looking for the colour
of our thoughts, a sense of the glue
that held us writers to a common
theme. And they'll reflect how sad
that so much energy was summoned
up, and whether we were glad
to see our name in print. How many
people read our words? How much
our small ideas could add to any
bigger view of how and who we are?
