I've seen the layers, of a mountain, lie thin
and there's a million years, each one, inbetween,
and that rock makes life seem simpler than before, I've seen,
because we won't, be here, too long.
And I think of the days that I have led,
and I think of ill times, confined, to bed,
and it soon will pass, that we will, be dead,
because we're not made, for here, too long,
oh no, soon we will, be gone
and I look to the stars that sparkle high,
and the difference in their shines sees millennia fly by
because in the time that stars are born, and then, they die,
we weren't even specks of mud, beneath, this sun,
because we haven't, been here, that long.
And I think of the life that I've yet to lead,
of the places to go and the people to see,
and of the true love that will mean the world to me,
oh no I haven't, got, that long.
So no more stupid talk of money or bills,
I've no time to waste, so I've no time to kill,
I've a life I have to lead while the sparks are in me still,
because there's not all the time, under, the sun,
a sun's second, we have, but one
for soon, we shall, be gone.
And to keep our hearts open, pure and true
and to help those around, in whatever, we can do,
it's a simple thought, but there's no time, to argue
because we won't, be here, too long
give a simple smile, before, it's gone
behind our rapidly, setting, sun
because we won't, be here, that long.
