Blinding

They say love is blind,
And maybe it is.
But why do they never say,
To be infatuated
Is to be blind?
Because clearly it is.
It's easy to see someone's faults,
If you love that someone,
But you recognise them
As part of their being;
And perhaps learn to love them too.
Have you ever
Lead a successful relationship
When you refuse to acknowledge
Their shortcomings?
Invariably they squander
And you are left alone.
So, maybe,
To love someone you must
See them, as they are,
And love them for that.
