Asleep

i would close my eyes
and keep them shut
for 365 days

i would hide beneath these eyelids
i don't have to see whats gone wrong
i don't have to watch it fall apart
or look myself in the eye

i wouldn't have to see you
but i couldn't miss you either

i'd sleep it all away
let the days and weeks and months pass
drift away from this year and these people
