A friend like you

You were always there to help me in my trials and tribulations
always offering encouragement and support
you never once ever judged me, always ready to offer comfort
we went through so many things together
and you silently watched the mistakes i made

In your eyes i never did any wrong, you still loved me come what
may
you stayed beside me regardless,
you devoted your life and offered me protection
in your own and special way.

You saw so many changes, and you never once complained
beside me was your vocation, my guardian angel, some would say
unconditional love was your only aim in life, of which i'm truly
grateful
and you gave me true companionship until your dying day.

Then as the years rolled by us, your health was not the best
it was my turn to return the love and devotion back to you
instead of living life to the full, all you wanted was to rest
i had to make a decision which was the hardest one i ever made

I spent the entire morning laying next to you, telling you that i loved
you
i stroked your face a million times, i held you close and could gently
feel you breathe
i thanked you for your loyalty, and devotion, and vowed i'd never
forget you
you were so much my best friend, one which i had to say goodbye
to.

As they took you for cremation, i sat weeping on the steps,
for once in my life i felt so alone, a feeling i wont forget
I will miss you being in my life, you were a truly special friend
we were always there in life together, but now this is the
end........
