As she struggles up the stairs

I remember walks in the park
Holding my sister,s pram
She wasn,t scared of the dark
My mum was a picture of calm
When did my mother get old
Was it when she got her pension?
Or when she turned forty or fifty or sixty
Or her age that you dare not mention

And sleep with youthful dreams
A drop in capacity for coffee and tea
