A... Normality and oily water! (Introduction)

NORMALITY
Everyday normal life is not actually normal, not for anyone, but
especially not for us. Although that could be a slight contradiction,
because normality can only be measured on what is normal for you
personally. In this case our lives are completely normal, and so is
everyone else's.
What would not be normal is what we would be like if 'He' was normal,
if this is confusing you then you are probably, all in all, normal
yourself.
If, lets say, you had an accident, this set off some kind of disease
that meant that you couldn't walk very easily, had to use crutches and
have doctor appointment after doctor appointment to try and find out
what was wrong with you. Then you would class that as having an
abnormal lifestyle. However, if this continued for say, eight years,
eventually this lifestyle would become your normality - so although
nothing has changed, you are once again normal - for you. Also, people
coming into your life would begin by thinking that you were abnormal,
and then, as if overnight, you become normal to them.
Normality is not a real concept. Neither is making soup it seems.
THE FIRST ATEMPT
I was out, which was normal. At the time we were still living at the
rat-hole so we tended to spend as little time there as possible. What
wasn't normal is that he was in. This usually meant that he was
planning a romantic meal with candles and such (eaten in the bedroom,
as it was the least rat-hole-like place in the house.) When I got back
I was actually surprised that I couldn't smell the incense, the yummy
food, or hear classical music emanating from the bedroom. Instead,
placed in front of me was a bowl, in which was what looked like mushy
veg, over-cooked chicken and, well, oily water.
"Soup" He said. He sounded quite pleased with himself, "Nan told me how
to make it over the phone."
I realise now why my phone bill was so big, and why I never eat any
food at his Nan's (No offence meant Nan!)
It was, interesting. A bit like boil in the bag food that someone took
out of the bag before boiling.
Soup wasn't made for a while after that episode.
