This day marked it.
A return
on the train.
I came back changed
though not aware -
changed in the chambers
of the heart,
changed in the blood and vein
valves opening
and closing their mouths
pursing their lips differently.
It took a day to
filter through, perfuse
exchange each molecule
in the lung;
for every cell to know
this could not
go on.
From there -
it was just the matter
of telling someone.
