Quillwort of Riverbank

Rain's steady.
If the house were a ship
I'd make for the gap
between 22 and 24
where I can see willows.
If the house was rearing
on a swell
bringing the garden behind
like a train
we could make it
across the wooden garage
skim the hedge
before we dip.
I'm at the wheel
nobody else is that responsible.
The raw edge we'd leave
our neighbour
losing a wall
opened like a dollhouse.
He might be on the toilet
the kids in bed
the quaint wallpaper
and them staring
after us as we travel
the churning world.
