Your touch sends me spiralling off
Into a world of bright white light
My body responds to the rough skin on your fingers
And I melt into your arms at night
You make me feel as though I’m blooming
Like the flowers you tend in the day
A part of me wants you and then you’re there
And there’s never a need to say
It’s like we’re speaking without words
Just responding to something unknown
And it’s so different when you’re here
To the awkwardness on the phone
But then it’s my mind that stops me
Like saying halt to your pure embrace
Like I can’t take the weight of your feeling
Don’t want to see that look on your face
And then I’m feeling heavy
Like I’ve fallen from something so high
And I’m wondering why you took me there
I was happy just standing by
And I’m seeing your puzzled look
As you search me for a clue
I’d give you that clue if I knew myself
What’s happening with me and you
I’m suffocated yet free as a bird
I’m violated yet still in control
I’m searching for a way out but not yet in
I’m feeling split yet also whole
I’m wondering why you’re staying
Sticking with something so vague
I’m thinking you would be better off
With somebody a bit less opaque
