Child of Sudan
Marble black eyes seek out
The refuge and cradle song
Of untouched innocence.
Dusty brown face lined with
The lost tears and furrowed stains
Of fly-plagued helplessness.
Sublime child of Sudan
Beauty crippled, hope lost in
Hunger's swollen belly.
Life's gentle creation
Sacrificed on the altar
Of man's ineptitude.
