Passtana - woman of Afghanistan
You may cover my face
with the dark veil of your
Blind insecurity
You may stifle my voice
from the sweet tones of my
Unbounded happiness
You may condemn my child
to the bleak waste of her
Uneducated life
But.....
You will not scar my beauty
You will not drown my laughter
You will not crush my spirit
FOR I AM A WOMAN
You may silence my tongue
from the free speech of its
Passionate honesty
You may banish my hands
from the sweet joy of their
Positive usefulness
You may cover my back
with the cruel cuts of your
Misguided purity
But.....
You will not dent my courage
You will not drain my power
You will not quench my passion
FOR I AM A WOMAN
