Clouds of Summer

This one is for summer.
Of a time when the Sun
Drives out the sky and only blue prevails.
Don’t you fret though,
They manage still to stick themselves back.
Crossed and checkered,
Streamed and strewn,
Floating and hanging loosely
In the endless blue.
Their larger cousin might threaten the horizon,
But these folks mean no harm,
A protection and distraction from the endless blue above us.
