Walking Away

Anisa had been hooked with Mick for over a year despite everything that he had done to her. He screwed around with her, cheated on her at parties, made rude remarks about her and belittled her as a child because she was about a year younger than him. Anisa still stuck by him even though most of her friends advised otherwise. Some had even busted up and ditched her over it. That's how powerful an impact Mick had made on her life. Still. she stuck with him all the way through but something was about to happen to end that.

Anisa had just started the same 6th form as Mick. She was handling things pretty well although she was feeling terrible about Mick's continuous remarks and howls. One day, Anisa decided to venture off in search of her friends. She accidentally bumped into another guy.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Anisa apologised repeatedly.
"It's ok. It was partly my fault," he reassured her, "I should've watched where I was going."
"My boyfriend always tells me that I'm clumsy."
"Oh. Well I'm Henri. Henri Rossetti."
"I'm Anisa Raven. It's nice to meet you."
"Good to meet you too Anisa. I shall see you around." Henri turned and walked away. That was one of the first times that someone had been that polite to her in a long time.

After that meeting, Anisa and Henri began seeing more of each other as friends. For Anisa, he was an escape route from Mick. For Henri, she was a kinda friend in need of solace. Their relationship continued to grow and, almost inevitably, they started to develop feelings for each other as they got closer and closer. Mick hated Anisa's friendship with Henri and forbade jher from seeing him as anything more than a nobody.
"You can't do that!" Anisa protested.
"Yes I fucking can. I'm your boyfriend and I can do what I please." Mick unfairly stated.
"Oh so it's ok for you to go around after other bitches but it's not ok for me to be friends with another boy?" Anisa was left unheard as Mick set about checking out another girl. Feeling trapped and unable to reason with Mick Anisa turned to Frances, one of her best friends.
"I don't know what to do anymore," Anisa moaned, "I love Mick and all but he's really hurting me. I feel so lost."
"I don't want to sound like Cher or Mya for saying this but I think it's time to leave Mick the dickhead and move on. What about this Henri guy? He seemed pretty keen on you." Frances advised her.
"Mick has forbidden me to see him as anything."
"What?! Shitting fucks alive! I swear that guy is suffering from a severe case of hypocrisy."
"Ditto"
"Look, try and reason with him. If he won't stop his ways then you must stop the relationship for your own sake."
"I can't end it with Mick! I just can't!" Anisa sobbed as she began to break down.
"Oh Anisa! Please don't cry! OK," Frances sighed, "What about seeing Henri in secret?"
"Secret?"
"Yeah. See him as a mate in secret. If that's the only way that you're going to see him then you've got to give it a shot. And you never know. If Mick finds out then he might realise just how awful you feel."

Two weeks went on after that conversation. Anisa saw Henri in secret and Mick continued his ways. At this point, Mick was getting a tad suspicious of Anisa and started following her around. One day, he came upon Anisa talking to Henri. He recorded their conversaton:
"Does Mick know that we're talking?"
"No. I don't think so but I think he's getting suspicious. He keeps following me around unless he's checking out another one of his bloody bints."
"Why do you stay with him if he checks out other women?"
"Because I love him."
"It's obvious that he doesn't love you though, isn't it?"
"You little bastard! I knew what you were up to!" Mick shouted as he revealed himself.
"What the fuck? You TAPED me?!" Anisa questioned enraged.
"Yeah. I found out the truth. You lied to me!" Mick shouted.
"You were unreasonable.You held me by an opressive lead like some fucking dog and expected me to sit and grovel you. I should've left you months ago!" Anisa argued.
"You can't leave me. I'm your boyfriend, remember?" Mick sneered at Anisa.
"Now look here you brute," Henri stepped in, "I've just about had enough of your sexist crap! You've been hurting Anisa and I don't like it one bit. I'll be honest, I quite fancy Anisa but I was respectful towards your commitment and left it. You don't deserve Anisa."
"Look, I'm the boss of this relationship and what I say goes." Mick snarled at Henri. Anisa had had enough. She had already tried to squish her feelings for Henri for a man who obviously had no interest in her.
"No you don't. You have no control because there is NO relationship. It's over." Anisa finally shouted at Mick. Mick turned to Anisa.
"You can't do that."
"Yes I can. I just have."
"But ..."
"But what?" Anisa continued, "Are you going to go 'Oh forgive me baby I love you and need you'. Bollocks to you mate. Get over it." Anisa walked over to Henri and held his hand. They walked off together and left a defeated Mick to stand and stare.
