The Cave

I have wandered very deep 
into a very dark cave 
Upon first stepping into this domain,
I would glance back at my path
and easily be able to see the sun streaming through
But as I was pulled further and further,
it grew more difficult to see the light
And now I am so immersed that when I look back,
I know there is brightness somewhere
but only darkness appears to me
I know there is a way out
for there was a way in 
There was a time when I wasn't even in the cave at all 
In fact, I was ignorant to any cave and all its wanderers 
I was surrounded by nothing but the illumination of the sun 
If only I could find my way back 
If only there was just but a single stream of light to guide me
