' the dark elves have just discovered the hidden magic that was discovered by the first-born elves.' declared the high-mage, the high-mage and 12 of his most loyal and talented students were with him,. 'all they ask in return for their knowledge is our allegiance' these were men who were enemies of the dark elves and were surprised at his suggestion, however being men they accepted this knowledge without question to what purposes the dark elves wanted their allegiance of their enemies. ' so, all in favour say aye!' there was a cheer coming from the could all shouting 'aye!'. although there was one voice which rebelled.
'nay' shouted a voice from the crowd
'Do you know what you are saying, you are passing off the chance to have magic more powerful than your self? No I will not let you be your own demise.' argued the high-mage.
'I will not be bullied into a decision I am not willing to make!' protested the mage.
'well then, maybe you should be Taught a lesson, guards!, take him to the highest tower in this building and lets see if he changes his mind.'
The mage was brought to a room with one light and a cold floor. The mage's name was Beran, he was a part a the guild of mages which commanded respect and fear. He was one of his most talented students he just didn't know it yet. He was brought up as a son of a bard, and was enticed from a young age of tales of dragons and the conflict between the races of elves, but he thought that these were merely stories, but all that changed was some thing fantastical happened to him. It was on the eve of his 13th birthday, when he would come of age. He was walking through the forest he came across a book he opened the book but had strange symbols that he could not understand. He went to pick it up but it would not move and suddenly, a great force knocked him over, when he awoke it was many years later and he was a lot older about 18, but he did not know how many years it had been. The book he saw before him he could now read and understand as if it was the common language he was taught to read from an early age, and with this revelation he was gifted with arcane abilities.
The high-mage entered the room with a menacing grin on his face.
' I am giving you one last chance to reconsider'
' I will not give my allegiance to the dark elves, I
do not even see why they would need it, they would just
be using us as pawns in there was with the elves!' objected
Beran furiously .
'science! I have tried being patient but you have
elected a different way you will be confined to a cell where
you shall condemned to slavery for our needs, if You're
Lucky.'
The now enraged high-mage stormed out of the
room when Beran plotted his escape. This escape would be
Impossible if Beran wasn't a mage of the highest order.
He planned that he would jump out of the window and take
on the form of an eagle however he had only practiced this
spell once but he would probably die otherwise. Without
hesitation he shouted 'malaharix' and suddenly he
transformed into a bird with a sharp beak and golden
feathers he flew out of the window and soared out to the
sky, he thought that he would alert the king or any one but
he didn't know who to trust he only had a few hours before
they would realise he was gone and put his name down for
a crime he didn't commit just so that he could be killed.
Baren then realised that he would have to go
under a different guise, his first thought was a bard as he
knew all of the stories his farther told him but it had been so
long since he herd the stories. His second thought was to
kill a solidger and then he would have a crime against his
Name, and the last thing he could think of was to be a
Merchant , he didn't really ned any goods, if any one asked
him he had a few trinkets and devices he received at
mage -school. So he decided he would be a travelling
merchant , he wasn't intending to stay very long just to buy
supplies worst case senario would be some one suspects
something but he sould break their neck by muttering a
single word.
As he decended and transformed back to his
original state he noticed a small station with an inn, forge
and butcher which also supplied milk and bread and other
thing s you would provide if you were a armer with cattle.
He walked into the in and saw a dark hooded figure in the
Corner, who seemed to stare at Beran .
'what can I get you sir?' asked the barman
'ill just have an ale thanks' he replied
' there ye go' said the barman giving him the
Drink. Baren looked at the ale quick ly and replied
'Its poisoned!'
