Cherished Memories

Look all around you in this life and pray
For this world seems to want to split and fly away
Famines Wars Storms and Poverty
Seems to come ever closer to our selfish way

What happened to our childhood memories?
The spring times the daffodils the colours so bright
The summers so warm and gentle
The fun we always found every day and every night

The Autumn leaves that fall to the ground
To blow away with a gentle rustling sound
The kindness that people showed to each other
The care we had for one another Sister and Brother

The winter flakes that softly blew gently into our face
The love for mankind shared by the human race
The snowman built and the snowball fights
The sparkling frosts that appeared through the Winters nights

Xmas's then when we did not ask for much
The giving was the pleasure not the wanting as such
Toys were simple but the thought was always there
Love was all around so much to give and share

The wishing of the Season to each and every one
The blessing to each other Mother Father Sister and Son
All the best was heard to echo around to each for the coming year
Full of happiness to everyone joy and good cheer

I'm glad these memories remain in my heart so alive
They will never leave me I hope that's why I strive
To write them down so they never do
So future generations will keep them shining true
