B is for Bounds Green

Some places don't really exist.
You think of Raith Rovers, Saint Johnstone, Saint Mirren.
Those Scottish teams who play in
Kirkcaldy, Perth and Paisley but
who dance on the streets of Raith.

And now a test:
place Bounds Green on the map.

Follow the signs one way until
you meet a sign telling you to go back
and look around and ask:
"Is it here? Are you sure?"

I lived there for two years,
in that space between places
and the only thing that changed:

the weeds that grew
on the unfinished church
obscured the metal supports beneath.
