Mr Crocodile and his missing false teeth

Mrs Mouse was very, very busy. She was buzzing around the kitchen of
the oak tree house just like a little bumble bee!
'Oh dear, I have so much to do today' she said to Mr Mouse. 'Melony is
going to help Mrs Squirrel at the little shop and I have to take baby
Midge Mouse to Mr Dog the dentist for his check-up'. She was packing
lunch for Mr Mouse and Matthew Mouse as they were going down to the
river to help their friend Mr Water Rat move house. 'Well I think
Matthew and I will be kept busy for sometime with Water Rat' replied Mr
Mouse 'but we will take Melony with us and perhaps we will bring Water
Rat back with us and all have tea in the garden'
Soon Mr Mouse, Matthew Mouse and Melony Mouse were setting off
together. Mrs Squirrel's shop was through the woods and on the way to
the riverbank, so Melony Mouse had the company of her Daddy and brother
on her way for her first day of work helping Mrs Squirrel.
Melony Mouse was hoping to save enough money to buy herself a very nice
bonnet that she had seen in the little hat shop in the village. She was
very excited and she skipped along with Mr Mouse and Matthew Mouse.
'Here we are' said Mr Mouse ' Good morning Mrs Squirrel' they all
called. 'I am so pleased to see my little helper has arrived' said Mrs
Squirrel 'in you come, and our first job is to have a cup of tea' So
they all said goodbye for now and Mr Mouse and Matthew Mouse set off to
find Mr Water Rat.
Mr Water Rat was moving along the riverbank because the water was
getting much too close to his front door and he had found a nice dry
home not too far away. 'Hello there old friend' called Mr Mouse as Mr
Water Rat came into sight 'we are ready to help you move into your new
home' It was not long before the three of them had almost got
everything settled into the new, dry home and Mr Water Rat was pouring
everyone a glass of lemonade. 'Thank you so much for helping me' said
Mr Water Rat 'I think I will feel dry and safe here and look, even the
postman has found me and I have just moved here!' Uncle Barney Mouse
the postman came hurrying along the path. 'Hello everybody, sorry but I
am not delivering the post, a terribel thing has happened' he called
'Mr Crocodile has been swimming and he has lost the new false teeth Mr
Dog the dentist has just made for him' 'Goodness gracious' said Mr
Mouse'where does he think they might be?' 'He was floating on his back'
said Uncle Barney 'and without thinking he dived beneath the weeds and
forgot to keep his mouth closed and his new false teeth just floated
away. He is so upset because it took Mr Dog the dentist a long time to
make so many false teeth' 'Well' said Mr Water Rat 'join us for some
lemonade and then we must all go and help find these teeth' 'I think we
should go and fine Mr Crocodile' said Mr Mouse 'and he will be able to
tell us where along the river bank he was swimming' So they all set off
and found Mr Crocodile sitting outside Mrs Squirrels shop crying huge
crocodile tears. Most o f the village people were with him, even Mr Dog
the dentist had left his surgery and was trying to organise a search
party to look for Mr Crocodile's teeth. 'Tell us exactly where you were
swimming' said Mr Mouse 'Mr Water Rat knows the river so well and
Matthew Mouse is very good at diving under the weeds' 'If you come with
me I will show you' said Mr Crocodile in between huge sobs 'follow me'
So they they all scampered along behind him, Mr Mouse and Matthew
Mouse, Mr Water Rat, Uncle Barney Mouse, Mr Badger and many, many more
villagers. As they approached the river bank where Mr Crocodile had
been swimming they met Mr Otter. He was soon told about the new false
teeth and offered to help too. Matthew Mouse was the first to dive
under the weeds, followed by Mr Water Rat and Mr Otter. They searched
and searched and the new false teeth were nowhere to be seen. 'Perhaps
they have drifted down the river with the current' said Mr Water Rat
and so everyone set off once again. Mr Crocodile was crying even more
corocodile tears by this time. 'I will never see my lovely teeth again'
he cried.
Suddenly they saw Mr Weasel running along the bank towards them,
struggling along with his fishing rod, and there hanging on the end of
the line were these huge false teeth! Mr Crocodiles new false teeth! Mr
Weasel had been sitting on the riverbank trying to catch some fish for
his tea and much to his suprise he had caught Mr Crocodiles new false
teeth!
There was much laughter and excitement as everyone made their way back
to the village shop. Mrs Mouse and baby Midge Mouse were there waiting
to hear if there was any good news about Mr Crocodile's false teeth as
Mr Dog the dentist had told them what had happened. 'Well now' said Mrs
Mouse 'Mrs Squirrel has kindly offered to bring some fancy cakes and
biscuits and Mrs Rabbit is making some blackberry jam sandwiches. I
think we should all go back to Oak Tree House and have a picnic tea in
the garden to celebrate finding Mr Crocodile's new false teeth' 'That
is a splendid idea' said Mr Crocodile' and thank you to you all, I will
be able to eat some sandwhiches and fancy cakes because I have my teeth
back. Three cheers for everyone'
So all the friends set off through the woods and it was not long before
everyone agreed that Mr Crocodile did look splendid again with his new
false teeth and they were pleased everything had turned out so well.
But they did say that if Mr Crocodile had not lost his new false teeth
they would not all be enjoying such a merry tea with the Mice Family at
Oak Tree House.
