You and I

Rebounded love to a needful eye
Wanting from true love's goodbye
Twinned helplessness we would deny
To sign a bond and seal the tie
Always together You and I
Yet a grief would come from our lie
No tenderness under this bitter sky
Beckoning another love to vie
This became You and I
That knot we would untie
And unrequited love must die
No more You and I
How wakeful we lie
No longer You and I
Who were You and I?
