There beneath the billowing lavender sky
With winter reflected in the wind's bitter nip
My cheek burned with a fiery tear
My hand gripped hers and I bit my lip
Blue eyes vast as an ocean stared with delight
Flaxen hair fanned out like a tender angel's wing
She squeezed my thumb and smiled at me
Too young to grasp this Christmas' sting.
