The elephant and I

Today I had a visit from an elephant in my room It sat quietly watching me even when I poked it with a broom...Seconds passed to minutes and minutes turned into hours, the two of us silent- never making eye contact. Eventually with out warning it put it's trunk into my hand, gripping it tightly as to say I understand... An awkward smile escaped my lips when suddenly the elephant started to speak. I looked it in the eye and with that I couldn't deny that we both needed closure even though for hours we kept our composure. The fact is we both were still sore we both still felt defeated, regretting forsaken words spoken when things got too heated... So I held the elephant's trunk tightly and in gentle caress-- making a pact never to forget our beautiful mess...
