Retirement is good!

R emember the days when we went to work?
E very day, rising at dawn
T o put on our tights and high heeled shoes
I n all weathers and sometimes storms
R evving the engine to warm the car up
E ventually arriving at the office by nine
M aybe, if lucky, the kettle would be hot and
the cleaners left on time.
E veryone would arrive in dribs and drabs
N o computers then to switch on and log in
or whatever the jargon may be
T ake a letter here, file an incoice there -
answer the incessant ring of the phone.

I nto the car at 5pm to make the journey
home
S ince then life has changed - no more
racing around in the morning to leave
on time

G reat times can be had in retirement
O nly venturing out when the weather is fine
- after nine!
O h! the walks and the clubs and the lunches
at Pubs
D ining with friends - and filling garden tubs!
