Wings Of Freedom

It was beautiful in the land of plenty. The birds flew high up in the blue sky, and the grass and the trees were always green and lovely. The air was warm and pleasant and life was good always. But one lonely little bird longed to stretch his wings and fly away to freedom forever. So one bright sunny morning the little bird took off in search of a new home and a free life forever. He flew south to the great unknown and kept on flying for weeks on end. His wings carried him further and further away from home as he glided on the slipstreams of the blue skies above. Still he flew and flew onwards to where he did not know. The warm summer of his past changed as he came across a cold land of emptiness that was icy and forsaken all over. Here no bird touched the sky and the land was empty and barren as far as the eye could see. He longed for the warm pastures of home that now seemed like a long lost heaven to him. But his little wings had carried him to far away and his home and past was lost to him for good. He could never return to where he once came from and he was lost and lonely up in the sky always. Still he kept on flying forever in search of the great freedom that he once dreamed of so long ago. He flew forever and ever in search of some elusive rest and peace to comfort his poor little soul and bring him to new home at last. One day he reached a beautiful land at last. One he had never set eyes on before. It was a great expanse of green trees and lush meadows that seemed to stretch on forever. In the new wilderness of beauty and peace his tiny wings came to rest at last. He landed on a lonely tree top and sat on the branch above and looked all about him in wonder. He would never find his way back home again and it seemed that he would stay in this new paradise for the rest of his days. He was all alone in this new heaven and new home and he marveled at its great wonders for the longest of time. But after a long time he spotted a few other lonely birds like himself that had made their journey to the new heaven of home. He was happy for the first time since he had left his place of birth and childhood. He had found his true freedom at last it seemed and he was filled with joy at his start to a whole new life free from the bondage of the old days. He began to sing a beautiful song up in the tree and the melody carried over meadows and fields in harmony with the soul of nature forever. Let freedom ring and joy to the world. It was freedom at last and all was at peace forever and ever. We will all find the freedom and peace that we so dearly long for at the end of our longest journey after it all.
