Eye, Eye
One day, when it was gloomy and hailing, Dominic found himself, on
that day of all days, on the London Eye. He was with his girlfriend,
the person who had dragged him up there in the first place.
Naturally it was also the day when the Eye had decided to break down.
Not only this, but the pod which Dominic was in (just him and her) was,
at that particular time which it broke down, at the very top of the
wheel. It was Dominic's twenty-fourth birthday and this was about the
last place on earth (and pretty much the rest of the Universe) he
wanted to be.
The wheel had stopped suddenly at one-fifteen (pm) and it was now
verging on four o'clock.
"One day," Dominic said, matter-of-factly, stroking the glass sides,
"I hope to have my own greenhouse."
At any other time, this comment would have been extremely random and
unbelievable; however, when you are encased in glass, it somehow seems
relevant.
"Unfortunately, I am afraid of time running out before I manage to
achieve this. I am afraid that, when I am stuck in a moment I can't get
out of, I shall wither away into nothingness, before I achieve my any
of my ambitions." He slumped down, his shirt being lifted slightly as
it dragged on the glass. He closed his eyes for a moment, before
suddenly opening them again. He looked his girlfriend straight in the
eye and said:
"Don't tell anyone will you?"
