C- The Game

when you were in elementary school
you thought everyone was in love with you
not in a selfish, narcissistic sort of way
but in an I'm innocent
and I love everyone
so they must love me too sort of way

when you graduated to middle school
you realized this wasn't the case
the pain of life began to settle in
and you stopped loving yourself

when you graduated to high school
you found that love was possible with the right person
and through that person you learned to love yourself again
until the dreams you made blew away with the breeze of reality
and you returned to self loathing
as life's cycle began

when you graduated to college
you just wanted to have fun
love didn't matter anymore
it had became a web of lies and deception
that you no longer wanted to tangle yourself up in

when you graduated to the real world
you figured it was time to give love one more try
to find a spouse and start a family
start a real world kind of love to last you a lifetime
some of us got tripped up somewhere along the way
