Yellow Sky

Sometimes after storms,
the sky turns yellow
as the sun pushes its way
through cracks in clouds,

and lush trees
and other greens
are basked in a surreal glow
like that scene
in the Wizard of Oz
when black and white
becomes a vibrant rainbow,

and the birds start singing
like children laughing
as they timidly dip their toes
into the cold ocean,
their cares lost in summer daydreams.
