Beneath the Workaholic

No need to check the time: it's 8.42
She says "Hello" to everyone with her eyes downcast
Puts her bag and brolly on the desk; still on cue
Whilst unbuttoning her dark brown coat, slips it off so fast
Walks back swiftly to her chair and sits down
Moves her bag and brolly under the desk, onto the ground.

She pushes the computer button on, while seeing what to do
On automatic pilot, she still manages to devise a plan
Her head down and working quickly: tea break she works right
through
Occassionally speaking: small talk and polite conversation can
Makes only business calls on the telephone
By 1.30, hungry, she goes for lunch alone.

Preferring to return to work; minimum lunch break
Works twice as hard as anyone, putting in a long day
No grumbling or moaning does she ever make
Everyone thinks she's quiet and doesn't have much to say
But no one ever asks how she is, or what's going on
She says "Goodnight" as everyone leaves, and adds, "See you, anon".
