Whitewash

Plant a hanging basket
On the homeless
Paint every scrawled on
Bench and seat
Sow creeping ivy
Into burnt out cars
Let's pretty up the street
String fairy lights
Across poor housing
Whitewash each graffiti'ed wall
Plant a tree perhaps a thousand
Screening miles of urban sprawl
Drag em in and dry um out
Cure the symptom blank the cause
Take away all consequence
Slackening the laws
Close are eyes to actuality
Hurl wealth and wreckage into space
And as the stars begin to dim
Let's lazer up the place
Spraying contaminated sunrise
Dodging radiation in a suit
If the oceans glow their warning
Give up fish and eat mutated fruit
Reinvent the molecule
Shepard in shiny-shoes
It's only a matter of time
Before we pay the final dues
Lets speed up evolution
Replace clean air by the can
No longer being answerable
For the deeds of contemporary man
As the planet submits to summon
At the hands and wills of sightless eyes
We'll watch behind vast sceenic screens
As we disintegrate the skies
