Tha Day I had it all

I should have known that something like that was going to happen. From the early hours of the day up to that time things have been going so well for me. Usually when things go so well like that, tears will be near.
It was my second trip to Mutambara, on a Monday afternoon some time not very long ago. We came to this bus stop where there was this mother; Jane is believed to be her name and her daughter Melissa. Well they were both familiars since they were both regular customers. Clifford was the Driver. Roy was on a two weeks off.
It seems there was a problem. Jane was not feeling ok. She was suffering from Malaria. Cerebral, that's what they say it was. Just because of what I thought was my love for them, I decided to help by giving them some practical advice. They did not have enough bus fare for two to Mutambara Mission Hospital. They only had for one and it was one way. Well even if we were to take Jane alone, She needed someone to be there with her.
We decided to help them. It seems I knowing them was another problem for we could not leave them there just like that. We took them. I didn't know that there was one magic word that would set everything upside down. The hospital. I had been a bit rude to Melissa, sacking her for taking mom to the Hospital late. 'You have been so uncaring' I concluded.
Jane then told me that everyone was saying she was now mentally disturbed and she was very upset about it. Just because I thought I knew what it was like for her, I felt pity for her and tried my best to comfort her by telling her that she was going to be ok soon or later. It seemed the color of her skin was turning yellowish and just by looking it seemed so bad.
Jane and daughter were seating on the second seat from the back. Behind them at back seat, there were two young lovers. Well I suspect that the man was 27 years old and the woman 25. I don't know what they were talking about but all I could hear was their laughter and giggles. I am sure I am not the only one who was being bugged by these guys. Besides it seems they were not concentrating with the situation in our van.
How it started, I really am not sure. What I saw with my very own eyes was a direct hit on the guy's face at the backseat. You know that one was so strong, so much that you wouldn't believe that a lady had thrown that. Jane was so mad because she thought the guys at the back were laughing at her. We couldn't stop the van until at a safe location which was about 6 minutes drive.
Can you imagine people fighting in that Van in motion almost full speed ahead? I thought for people to fight they needed a lot of space. Well the next thing I saw was Jane coiling the gentlemen's tie around her hand. Then she pulled. We all tried to free him but it was all in vein. Jane was now lying on the seat facing up, pulling the tie down with all the strength she had this time, and pushing the gentlemen up with her feet stepping on his chest and face.
You should have been there to see it for yourself. Imagine what would have happened if the door opened with the car traveling at high speed. It would be my fault if anyone had to jump out. It was better if I was to be the one to jump out. So the game was like I push people back where they were being beaten. I don't know weather it was supposed to be fun or not, but to me it was not. Not at all.
Well we got to the bus stop and the Van came to a halt. In less than 3o seconds, the Van was empty. Some came out through the tailgate and as for some, through the windows. A knife had to be used to cut off the tie. It was not easy because nobody was steady. We were afraid of cutting him on his neck. After a good struggle, he was free at last.
I wondered what we were going to do with her, weather we were going to just leave her there. Soon it was the young couple against Clifford, and me why we had to wait and pick them up. Well the small commotion was broken again in to silence well a new form of silence except that it was now Clifford screaming. I don't know why Jane had to twist cliff's arm.
I thought I would help. That's when the best of my part gets in. What I thought was the help I was giving ended up in to a nightmare. Well may be I was so stupid because they said I let her took my hand in to her mouth and guess what. She bites me. If you cannot understand what I mean, I mean she fixed her upper and lower jaw on my hand.
I don't know the last time I had screamed in my life. Even so screaming was not going to help me here. What were we going to do so that she would let me go? I don't even know what they did to her so that she could let me go. As for the good bye she gave me a blow on the right eye. A direct hit.
It is true that anger is more useful than despair. Well the next thing I saw was Jane seating in front of me tied up. Well they said Cliff another villager and I tied her up. It almost resulted again into the exchanging of blows between I and the passengers for getting her back in to the Van after all she had done even though she was tied up this time. Some wanted a refund and stay there. No refunds were made. No one stayed at the bus stop.
It was silence for the next 15 minutes from Wengezi to Mutambara. On the bus stop, a Policeman came and demanded to know why she was tied up like that. Nobody answered him. People suggested that he untied her. On seeing what had happened to almost everyone, he discovered that his question was a mistake. So he disappeared.
It was I, Cliff, The other Guy who had a tie and of cause Jane receiving medical treatment at Mutambara Hospital. Look at what I thought was my love for people ended up into. My right eye couldn't open for the next four days. It was on a shut down. My fingers couldn't touch anything.
I didn't know what I had done wrong. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to help anyone again in my life. A week later. She was back home, safe and sound. She was well before I was. One day I saw Melissa and she wanted to thank me for saving her mother. I don't know why I said this to her but I just told her " I did not save her life. We only postponed it"
It really never was funny or supposed to be funny until now.
May be because it is over
