Old interests and Worn jeans

I'm wearing jeans and
trainers that are scuffed
above the left heel
Eyeliner remains the same, black
always there
a trait from my mothers side that
never wants to die
it's in the family
as normal and expected
like the cancers that run deep there
It's in the genes
You wear your hair the same
no grey yet
but its coming and
the scar on your chin a reminder
that time stands still
not for us
not for any one
A memory inbedded in flesh which
I didn't share
time is a spiteful and
greedy bitch
I wear my drinks the same
right handed, half empty
Never half full
and cigarettes
still smoulder in hands that
have nothing else to do
Loose change and
bits of fluff remain
in pockets that are ceaselessly
denim
And so here we are
bumped into
a concert I always knew you would be at
and maybe
you knew too
for you wear your most indifferent and
uninterested smirk
The one I loved
(and still do?)
You changed your glasses and
address
kids still not here
(Nor mine)
time changes a few things
(though not many)
and conversations
a hundred years ago that
never led anywhere
lead us to this moment
and our wedding rings mean
nothing
